Somberi Chicken

In Tamil and Telugu somberi means lazy or lazy person. In one of his recent interviews Tamil Actor Jai has shared his lazy chicken recipe. We penned down this flavorful chicken recipe for you, so you don't have to. If you are already a South Indian or have a South Indian friend you might already have figured this out, if not congratulations you learnt a new word. Now it's time to learn a new recipe too. Total Cook Time - 20 mins Serves - 2-3
Requirements:
For marination:
Chicken - 1/2 Kilo
Bay Leave - 1 leaf
Cinnamon - 1/2 stick
Cloves - 3
Cardamom - 3
Star anise - 1
Pepper - 1/2 tbsp
Cumin -1tbspFennel Seeds -1tbsp
Onion - 2
Tomato - 2
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1.5 tbsp
Green Chill - 1
Curry Leaves - 5-10 (2 stems)
Chilli Powder - 3 tbsp
Coriander Powder - 1tbsp
Garam Masala - 3/4 tbsp
Salt - as per requirement
Curd - 4 tbsp
Lemon Juice - 2 tbsp
For Paste:
Coconut - 4-5 pieces
Cashew - 4
Poppy seeds -1/2 tbsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/2tbsp
Oil - as per requirement.
Coriander Leaves - as per requirements
How to Cook?
- Take a blow and add chicken and all the ingredients and spices and mix well and let it marinate.
- Take a pressure cooker and add about 5-6 tbsps of oil to it, now add the marinated chicken and let it cook for 5 mins.
- Now close the pressure cooker and cook until it whistles 2 times - 10 mins approximately.
- In the meantime, take a mixer jar and add coconut pieces, cashews, poopy seeds and fennel seeds and make it into a smooth paste. (Add a few drops of water only if needed.)
- Once the chicken is cooked add the paste to the cooker and mix well.
- Cook until the paste is mixed well and works its magical flavors to the chicken, which is about 2-3 minutes.
- Once it's done turn the stove off and serve it hot with steaming hot smooth rice or fluffy soft rotis/chapatis.
